HONOLULU (AP) — Drivers on Oahu may have seen a digital road sign that was less than informative as someone hacked into the machine and made it display an offensive phrase.
KHON-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1MB1Ly6 ) that the sign in Mililani displayed a short message encouraging readers to lick a part of the prankster’s anatomy Saturday morning.
GP Roadway Solutions, which operates the sign, says there have been problems in the past with vandals taking the batteries that are used to power the signs, but that this if the first time anyone has changed the message.
Police say tampering with portable road sigs is illegal and could be considered a misdemeanor.
